Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit RW?
UK ordinary passport holders get a FREE 30-day visa on arrival in Rwanda as Commonwealth citizens. No advance application or fee is required. British citizens travelling to Rwanda for tourism receive a free 30-day single-entry visa stamped on arrival, under Rwanda's visa-waiver arrangement for Commonwealth, African Union and La Francophonie member states. No prior application is needed: simply present a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival with a blank page. Rwanda also operates an open visa-on-arrival policy for all nationalities (capped at USD 50 single / USD 70 multiple), and an optional online application via the Irembo government portal exists, but UK travellers do not pay because of the Commonwealth waiver. Proof of onward travel, accommodation and sufficient funds may be requested. A yellow fever certificate is required only if arriving from a country with transmission risk. Because the entry channel is a visa granted at the border (not a pre-issued visa or true visa-free regime), the best single fit for a short tourist stay is visa-on-arrival, even though the fee is waived for UK nationals.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
