Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit QA?
British Citizen passport holders do NOT need to arrange a visa before travelling to Qatar. A free tourist visa waiver is granted on arrival, valid for 30 days for tourism or short visits. UK travellers holding a full British Citizen passport receive a free visa waiver on arrival in Qatar, allowing a stay of up to 30 days for tourism or short visits. There is no advance application, no embassy visit, and no fee for the initial entry. The waiver is single-entry on issue but can be extended once for a further 30 days (a charge of around QAR 100 applies) before it expires, arranged through the Qatar Ministry of Interior / Hayya platform. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival (the FCDO states 6 months; Visit Qatar references a 3-month minimum, so use 6 months to be safe). Travellers should hold proof of onward or return travel and accommodation. Health insurance covering Qatar's medical facilities is recommended for short stays and becomes mandatory for stays beyond 30 days. Note that other passport types (such as British National Overseas or British Overseas Citizen) are not eligible for the waiver and must obtain a visa separately. Always check the live FCDO advice before booking, as security and entry rules can change.
