Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit PY?
No visa required. British (UK ordinary) passport holders can enter Paraguay visa-free for tourism and are granted up to 90 days on arrival. United Kingdom ordinary passport holders do not need a visa to visit Paraguay for tourism or short visits. On arrival, British citizens are normally granted permission to stay for up to 90 days, and this can be extended once for a further 90 days by applying to the Paraguayan Immigration Department (Direccion General de Migraciones). There is no visa fee and no advance application or online travel authorisation required for short tourist stays. The single most important on-the-ground requirement is to ensure an immigration officer physically stamps, dates and signs your passport on arrival; travellers who lack an entry stamp (a recurring issue at land borders, where bus drivers sometimes skip the formality) are fined on departure. Your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay. While the UK government and Paraguay's published policy do not formally demand it, travellers should be prepared to show proof of onward or return travel and sufficient funds, as carriers and border officials may ask. Paraguay is in South America and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
