UK ordinary passport holders need a visa for Papua New Guinea. The reliable route is the online Visitor eVisa (Easy Visitor Permit) via the official ICA portal, costing about US$50 for a single entry and allowing a 60-day stay. A visa on arrival is also officially available to UK citizens at Port Moresby, but it has been suspended and reintroduced before, so applying for the eVisa in advance is the safer choice. A United Kingdom ordinary passport holder cannot enter Papua New Guinea visa-free. Two channels exist: (1) the official online Visitor eVisa / Easy Visitor Permit issued by the PNG Immigration & Citizenship Authority (ICA) at evisa.ica.gov.pg, and (2) a visa on arrival (VOA) at Jacksons International Airport, Port Moresby, for which UK citizens are an eligible nationality. Because the VOA scheme was suspended and only reintroduced for "certain categories of traveller," the most dependable option for a tourist is to obtain the eVisa before departure. The single-entry visitor visa permits a stay of up to 60 days from arrival and carries an online fee of about US$50; the visa cannot be extended. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the arrival date. Separately, since 1 October 2025 all travelers must also complete the free PNG Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours of arrival — this is not a visa but is mandatory. Papua New Guinea is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
