Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit NI?
UK ordinary passport holders do not need a visa for tourism in Nicaragua. You can stay up to 90 days; you only pay a US$10 tourist card fee in cash on arrival. British citizens travelling to Nicaragua for tourism enjoy visa-free entry for stays of up to 90 days. No visa needs to be arranged before departure. On arrival you simply purchase a Nicaraguan tourist card for US$10 (paid in cash) and pass through immigration. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry, and immigration officers may ask for proof of onward or return travel and sufficient funds. Stays can be extended once by up to 30 additional days for a fee at a Migration office before the initial period expires. Note that Nicaragua is part of the Central America-4 (CA-4) border control agreement with Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras: the 90-day clock runs across all four countries combined and does not reset when crossing internal CA-4 borders. A separate departure tax (around US$35) usually applies but is typically already included in international air ticket prices. Importantly, a March 2026 UK rule change requiring Nicaraguan nationals to obtain a UK visitor visa affects travel TO the UK and has no effect on UK citizens visiting Nicaragua.
