Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit NG?

UK ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit Nigeria. Since May 2025, Nigeria runs a fully online e-Visa system (visa-on-arrival is discontinued), so you apply and get approval before you travel. The tourist category is the F5A Tourism e-Visa. A United Kingdom ordinary passport holder traveling to Nigeria for tourism must obtain a visa before arrival; there is no visa-free entry and no visa-on-arrival. On 1 May 2025 the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Nigeria Immigration Service launched the New Visa Policy 2025, replacing the old visa-on-arrival scheme with a fully digital e-Visa system accessed only through the official portal at evisa.immigration.gov.ng. UK citizens are eligible to apply for the Tourism e-Visa (category F5A), which permits a short stay of up to 30 days and is typically valid for 90 days from issuance (you must enter within that window). Applications are completed entirely online with passport bio-data, a passport photo, proof of accommodation, return flight booking and proof of funds; decisions are usually returned within about 48 hours but can take up to around 5 business days in busy periods. Beyond the visa, Nigeria requires every traveler to hold a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (exemptions for infants 8 months or younger and adults 61 or older) and to complete the online Nigeria Health Declaration / digital Landing and Exit Card before entry. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of arrival. This guidance is confirmed by the UK Government foreign travel advice for Nigeria and by Nigeria Immigration Service policy sources as of May 2026.
