UK ordinary passport holders need a visa for Namibia as of 1 April 2025. You can obtain a visa on arrival at a Namibian port of entry, or apply online in advance through the official Visa on Arrival portal. The fee is NAD 1,600 for online/standard applications. Until 31 March 2025, British citizens could enter Namibia visa-free for short tourist stays. That arrangement ended on 1 April 2025, when Namibia abolished visa-free entry for 31 nationalities (including the United Kingdom) that did not have reciprocal visa-waiver agreements. UK ordinary passport holders now require a visa. Namibia offers a Visa on Arrival (VoA) at designated ports of entry, and an online pre-application route through the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security (MHISS) e-services portal launched in March 2025. Both routes deliver effectively the same visitor visa; applying online before travel is recommended to avoid queues and to confirm eligibility. The standard fee is NAD 1,600 for non-African (including UK) travellers applying online, reduced for children, with under-6s free. A manual/in-person VoA fee increase to NAD 2,000 was reported in late 2025, so the online route is the cheaper and smoother option. The visa is issued for tourism/short visits, commonly up to 90 days, and can be multiple-entry for the requested period. Namibia is in Southern Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond arrival and have blank pages (GOV.UK advises at least three blank pages).
