Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit LT?

UK ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Lithuania for tourism. As a Schengen country, Lithuania allows visa-free stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. British citizens travelling on a full "British citizen" passport can enter Lithuania visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period, for tourism, visiting family, business meetings or short-term study. Lithuania is part of the Schengen area, so the 90/180 allowance is shared across all Schengen states combined: days spent in France, Germany, Spain and other Schengen countries count toward the same 90-day total. Your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before your date of arrival and remain valid for at least 3 months after your intended departure from the Schengen area. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES), a biometric border-registration scheme, is rolling out across Schengen and on first entry you may have fingerprints and a photo recorded. Separately, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is expected to launch in late 2026; once it is live, British travellers will need to obtain an ETIAS authorisation (around 20 euros, valid 3 years) before travel, but it is not yet in force as of 30 May 2026 and there will be a transitional grace period. At present no visa or pre-travel authorisation is required.
