No visa needed. British citizens can enter Guatemala visa-free for up to 90 days as tourists, but must complete the free online Regional Traveler Affidavit (DJRV) before arrival. UK ordinary passport holders do not need a visa for tourist or business visits to Guatemala. Guatemala places the United Kingdom in its "Category A" visa-exempt list, granting visa-free entry for up to 90 days. Crucially, Guatemala is part of the Central America-4 (CA-4) Border Control Agreement with El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua: the 90-day allowance is shared across these countries and does NOT reset when you cross a land border between them. The clock starts on first entry into the CA-4 zone. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival and have at least 2 blank pages. Since 2024, all air travelers must complete the free electronic Regional Traveler Affidavit (Declaracion Jurada Regional de Viajero, DJRV) on the SAT government portal before traveling and present the QR code on arrival. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if arriving from a country with yellow fever transmission risk. Stays can be extended once by up to 30 days by applying and paying a fee to the Guatemalan Institute of Migration before the initial 90 days expire. Overstaying results in a fine payable before departure.
