UK ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Greenland for tourism. You can stay up to 90 days. Entry is by air, almost always transiting through Copenhagen (Denmark/Schengen) or Iceland (Schengen) en route, so travellers should still satisfy Schengen transit rules during the connecting leg. Carry a passport in good condition; while Greenland itself is liberal on validity, Danish/Icelandic transit and airline rules generally expect validity well beyond the trip.
