Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit CZ?

UK ordinary passport holders can travel to Czechia visa-free for tourism, staying up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. No visa or pre-travel authorization is required as of 2026. ETIAS (a future travel authorization, not a visa) has been delayed and will not be mandatory until at least April 2027. Czechia is a member of the European Union and the Schengen Area. British citizens holding a standard (ordinary) British passport are visa-exempt and may enter Czechia and the wider Schengen Area for tourism, business, or family visits without a visa for stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. The passport must be valid for the entire stay and for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area; many border officials also expect the passport to have been issued within the previous 10 years. No entry fee or visa application is required for short stays, and travellers simply present a valid passport at the external Schengen border, where it is stamped on entry and exit. Looking ahead, the EU's European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will eventually require visa-exempt visitors, including Britons, to obtain an online travel authorisation (EUR 20, valid three years) before travel. However, ETIAS is NOT yet in operation: following repeated delays tied to the Entry/Exit System (EES) rollout, the European Commission has indicated ETIAS will not become mandatory for UK travellers until at least April 2027. Until then, UK passport holders need nothing more than a valid passport to visit Czechia. Travellers should still ensure they do not exceed the cumulative 90/180 limit, as overstays can lead to fines, deportation, and future entry bans.

No visa is needed, so book flights and lodging directly. Keep proof of onward/return travel and accommodation, as border officers may ask for it.
