UK ordinary passport holders can visit Bosnia and Herzegovina visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day (6-month) period for tourism or visiting family and friends. Get your passport stamped on both entry and exit; border police use these stamps to confirm you have not overstayed, and missing stamps can lead to fines on departure. All foreign nationals must also register with the local police (Service for Foreigners' Affairs) within 72 hours of arrival; hotels and registered accommodation normally do this automatically, but those staying privately must register themselves. Stays beyond 90 days require a residence permit. The visa-free arrangement is long-standing and remained unchanged through 2026.
