Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit AM?
No visa is required. British (UK ordinary) passport holders can enter Armenia visa-free and stay for up to 180 days within any one-year period for tourism or short visits. There is no eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival to obtain for this length of stay. United Kingdom ordinary passport holders enjoy a long-standing visa-free regime for Armenia, allowing stays of up to 180 days within any one-year period for tourism and business. This is confirmed by both the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (GOV.UK travel advice, updated March 2026). No prior application, eVisa, electronic travel authorisation, or visa-on-arrival is needed. Note that a separate temporary measure announced in early 2026 (a waiver covering residence-permit holders of 113 countries, valid 1 January to 1 July 2026) has been widely but inaccurately reported as the source of the UK's visa-free access; in fact UK citizens already held standalone 180-day visa-free rights independent of that scheme, so the July 2026 expiry does not affect British travellers. Your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay; carry proof of onward travel and accommodation. Armenia is not in the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. To remain beyond 180 days you must apply for an extension or residence status through the Armenian passport and visa authority (OVIR).
