Do France passport holders need a visa to visit VE?
French ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Venezuela. They are visa-exempt for stays of up to 90 days, granted on arrival with a passport stamp. As of 31 May 2026, holders of an ordinary French passport can travel to Venezuela for tourism or a short visit without any visa. Venezuela grants visa-free entry to all European Union citizens, including France, for a maximum stay of 90 days, which can be extended once for a further 90 days by applying to SAIME (the Venezuelan migration service) inside the country. Entry is granted at the port of arrival on presentation of a valid passport; immigration officers stamp the passport for the authorised period. No eVisa, no visa-on-arrival fee, and no advance authorisation applies. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Venezuela. Important non-visa caveat: the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (France Diplomatie) currently advises against all travel to Venezuela due to the political and security situation, and recommends carrying the passport at all times to prove the regularity of the stay during identity checks. Travellers should also be prepared to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation and sufficient funds. Any non-tourist purpose (work, business, study, family, religious) requires a visa even for stays under 90 days.
