French passport holders need a visa for Uganda and must obtain it online as an eVisa before travel. The standard single-entry tourist eVisa costs USD 50, is valid for 90 days from issue and permits a stay of up to 90 days. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry. A France (FR) ordinary passport holder traveling to Uganda for tourism requires a visa, obtained as an electronic visa (eVisa) through Uganda's official Electronic Visa/Permit Application System at visas.immigration.go.ug. Visa-on-arrival has been phased out: since the 2016 mandatory online policy, all visa-prone travellers including French citizens must apply and pay online before arrival, then collect the visa at the port of entry on presentation of the approval letter. The most common option is the single-entry Tourist eVisa, costing USD 50, valid for 90 days from issue and allowing a stay of up to 90 days. Travellers visiting more than one East African country may instead use the multiple-entry East Africa Tourist Visa (USD 100) covering Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry, valid 10 days after vaccination and for life; without it a traveller may be vaccinated at the airport or refused entry. Passports should be valid for at least six months with a blank page. Processing typically takes a few business days. Uganda is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
