Do France passport holders need a visa to visit SR?
French ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Suriname for stays of up to 90 days. However, France is not on Suriname's fully visa-free list: before travelling you must register and pay the mandatory Entry Fee online (USD/EUR 50) via the official VFS Global e-visa portal and present the confirmation on arrival. Suriname abolished the traditional Tourist Card visa for many Western nations and replaced it with an online "Entry Fee" registration handled through its official VFS Global e-visa platform. France is among the eligible countries: French tourists are exempt from obtaining a visa, but they cannot board or enter without first paying the Entry Fee online before departure. The Entry Fee permits a single entry for tourism (and family visits) for up to 90 days. Suriname is in South America and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route. Travellers still need a passport valid for at least six months with a blank page, a return/onward ticket, proof of accommodation, and sufficient funds. Business, work, study or stays beyond the tourist scope require a proper e-visa or consular visa rather than the Entry Fee. Because the Entry Fee is a pre-arrival registration rather than a stamped visa, this route is best classified as effectively visa-free for short tourist stays, but skipping the online payment will result in denied boarding.
