Do France passport holders need a visa to visit SB?
French (FR) ordinary passport holders do not need a visa for a short tourist visit to the Solomon Islands. France is treated as a visa-exempt nationality and travellers are granted a free Visitor's Permit on arrival, valid for stays of up to 3 months in any 12-month period. French citizens travelling to the Solomon Islands for tourism are exempt from obtaining a visa in advance. On arrival at Honiara (Henderson) International Airport or another port of entry, an immigration officer issues a free Visitor's Permit, normally allowing a stay of up to three months in aggregate within any twelve-month period. To be granted the permit, the traveller must hold a passport valid for the duration of stay (six months recommended), an onward or return air ticket, and proof of sufficient funds for the visit. The permit is for tourism/visit only; paid or unpaid work is prohibited. Extensions of up to a further three months may be requested from the Immigration Division for a fee once in-country. The Solomon Islands is an independent Pacific nation and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to entering the Solomon Islands. (ETIAS is instead something Solomon Islanders will eventually need for Europe.) Some private agencies advertise an online "visitor visa" with fees of around USD 50-100; for eligible French nationals this is generally unnecessary as the free permit is issued at the border, though carrying confirmation of accommodation and travel insurance is sensible.
