Do France passport holders need a visa to visit PY?
No visa required. French ordinary passport holders can enter Paraguay visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days, as France is an EU member state and all EU citizens are visa-exempt under Paraguay's visa policy. France (FR) ordinary passport holders do not need a visa to travel to Paraguay (PY) for tourism or short visits. All 27 European Union member states, including France, are on Paraguay's visa-exemption list, allowing a stay of up to 90 days per calendar year. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (France Diplomatie) confirms no visa is needed for stays under 90 days, with extensions available from Paraguay's immigration service for longer stays. Travelers simply present a valid passport (recommended 6 months validity), proof of onward/return travel, proof of sufficient funds (a credit card is generally accepted), and travel insurance. Note that a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only for travelers arriving after a stay in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, or Venezuela (a simple stopover does not trigger this). When entering Paraguay by land, travelers must ensure their passport receives an entry stamp. ETIAS does not apply to French citizens (it concerns visa-exempt nationals such as Paraguayans entering the Schengen Area from late 2026).
