Do France passport holders need a visa to visit PK?
French ordinary passport holders need a visa for Pakistan and must apply online for the Pakistan e-Visa before travel. As of 1 January 2026, Pakistan suspended its free Visa Prior to Arrival program, so a paid tourist e-Visa through the official NADRA portal is now mandatory. France is not visa-exempt for Pakistan. French citizens (and Monaco nationals, plus eligible third-country residents of France) qualify for the Pakistan online tourist e-Visa, applied for in advance at the government portal visa.nadra.gov.pk. Until end of 2025, French travelers could use a free Visa Prior to Arrival / visa-on-arrival fast track, but effective 1 January 2026 Pakistan suspended that scheme for 126 nationalities including France. A standard paid e-Visa is now required for everyone, with longer processing times (officially 7-10 working days, in practice up to 20). The single-entry tourist e-Visa for EU citizens including France costs around USD 35 for a 3-month validity with up to 90 days stay; longer multiple-entry options exist at higher fees. Pakistan is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 rules and ETIAS do not apply to this route. Applicants need a passport valid at least 6 months, a photo, and either a hotel booking or an invitation letter.
