Do France passport holders need a visa to visit PE?
French ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Peru. They can enter visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period under the EU-Peru Short-Stay Visa Waiver Agreement (in force since 2016). As of 2026, citizens of France holding an ordinary passport may travel to Peru for tourism, business, or visiting relatives without obtaining a visa in advance. This is guaranteed by the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Peru on the short-stay visa waiver, which has applied since 15 March 2016 and covers all Schengen EU member states including France. The standard allowance is up to 90 days within any 180-day period. (Note: an old 1958 France-Peru bilateral exemption listed as "cancelled" on some sources is obsolete and has been superseded by the EU-wide waiver; French nationals remain fully visa-exempt as EU citizens.) On arrival, Peru no longer issues a paper Andean Migration Card (TAM) for most travelers; entry is recorded digitally in the Migraciones system. Travelers should carry a passport valid for the duration of stay (six months recommended; airlines may enforce this), an onward/return ticket, proof of sufficient funds, and accommodation details. Stays can be extended through Peru's Migraciones Digital platform. No fee applies for visa-free tourist entry. Note that there is NO visa-on-arrival, eVisa, or ETA system for short tourist visits by French nationals — entry is simply visa-free.
