French ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa in advance for tourism in Nepal. They get a Tourist Visa on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu), other international airports, and major land borders. The fee depends on stay length (15/30/90 days), and the visa is multiple-entry. France is not a Schengen-irrelevant destination here: Nepal is in South Asia and operates a Visa on Arrival (VOA) system open to most nationalities, including France. A French citizen traveling for tourism simply needs a passport valid for at least 6 months with two blank pages, a passport photo, and the visa fee in cash (USD or other major currency). The fee is USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days, or USD 125 for 90 days, all multiple-entry. The cumulative tourist stay is capped at 150 days within a calendar year (January-December). To save time at the airport, travelers can pre-fill the online application form on the Nepal Department of Immigration portal within 15 days before arrival, or use the self-service kiosks at the airport. France is not among the small group of nationalities barred from VOA (Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Eswatini, Palestine, Refugee Travel Document holders).
