French ordinary passport holders can enter Lesotho visa-free for tourism for up to 14 days. No visa or pre-arrival paperwork is required; you receive an entry stamp at the border. The longer EU-wide visa waiver announced in 2025 has been approved but is not yet in force as of May 2026. France (ordinary passport) holders do not need a visa for a short tourist visit to Lesotho. Under Lesotho's existing visa policy, all European Union member states - including France - are visa-exempt for stays of up to 14 days. Entry is granted on arrival with an immigration stamp; travelers simply present a valid passport plus proof of onward travel, accommodation and sufficient funds. Note the important nuance: although Lesotho's Cabinet approved a broader EU-wide visa exemption during the 2025 Lesotho-EU Partnership Dialogue (which could extend the permitted stay), implementation details were still being finalized and the measure was NOT yet in force as of 2026-05-30, so the 14-day allowance remains the safe, confirmed figure. Travelers needing to stay longer than 14 days face a complication: Lesotho's e-Visa portal has been suspended since April 2024, so longer visas must currently be arranged through a Lesotho diplomatic mission or by emailing the Immigration Department at least five working days before travel. For a standard short tourist trip within 14 days, however, no visa, fee or application is required.
