Do France passport holders need a visa to visit KG?
French ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist trips to Kyrgyzstan. France enjoys a unilateral visa-free regime. As of a rule that took effect at the end of 2025 (Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 855), the visa-free allowance is up to 30 days within any 60-day period; some older official pages still cite 60 days, so plan around the conservative 30-day limit. France is on Kyrgyzstan's unilateral visa-free list, so a French citizen traveling for tourism can enter without applying for any visa or eVisa in advance. Historically the allowance was up to 60 days, but Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 855, reported to enter force on 31 December 2025, capped visa-free stays at a maximum of 30 days within any rolling 60-day period for EU/Schengen and 55 other nationalities. The Kyrgyz MFA page (last updated February 2025) still lists "up to 60 days" for France, creating a discrepancy with the newer resolution and most 2026 travel guidance. To stay safe, travelers should plan for the 30-day cap and confirm at the border. No fee, no online registration, and no eVisa are required to enter; the eVisa system (evisa.e-gov.kg) exists only for nationalities that are not visa-exempt or for those needing longer/specific-purpose stays. Standard entry conditions apply: a passport valid at least six months, proof of onward or return travel, and sufficient funds if asked. Overstaying the visa-free window can lead to fines and future entry restrictions. Kyrgyzstan is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply to this trip.
