Do France passport holders need a visa to visit DZ?
French ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Algeria for tourism. Algeria does not exempt France and offers no general e-visa or visa-on-arrival for tourists, so you must apply in advance at an Algerian consulate in France and attend in person. France is not on Algeria's list of visa-exempt countries, so a French citizen traveling for tourism must obtain a short-stay tourist visa before departure from an Algerian diplomatic mission in France (the consulates general in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Bordeaux, etc.). Algeria has no electronic visa for tourists. A visa-on-arrival exists only for cruise passengers and for travelers on tours run by an approved Algerian agency visiting designated southern provinces (up to 30 days) - it does not cover ordinary independent tourism. The tourist visa is typically single-entry, valid for entry within about 30 days of issue, and authorizes a stay of up to 30-90 days as printed on the visa. Applicants must apply in person; key requirements include a passport valid at least 6 months beyond the stay, two photos, completed forms, a hotel reservation or legalized accommodation certificate, a round-trip ticket, repatriation/travel insurance, and proof of funds. Consular fees are modest (on the order of EUR 85), but processing can take from about 10 days up to several weeks. Algeria is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply to entering Algeria.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
