Do France passport holders need a visa to visit DK?
No visa needed. As a French (EU) citizen you can travel to Denmark with just a valid French passport or national ID card, for any length of stay, under EU freedom of movement. France and Denmark are both European Union member states, and Denmark is part of the Schengen area. As an EU citizen, a French ordinary passport holder enjoys full freedom of movement and does not need a visa to enter Denmark for tourism or any other purpose. You may enter with either a valid French passport or a valid French national identity card. There is no 90/180-day limit for EU citizens; the Schengen short-stay rule and ETIAS apply only to non-EU/visa-exempt third-country nationals, not to EU citizens. Likewise, the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which became operational in April 2026, does not apply to EU citizens. If you intend to stay and reside in Denmark for more than three months, you must register with the Danish authorities and obtain an EU residence registration certificate, but no visa or prior authorization is ever required. France and Denmark are both Schengen members, so internal border checks are normally absent, though either country may reintroduce temporary controls in exceptional circumstances; carry your ID document at all times.
