Do France passport holders need a visa to visit CM?
French ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Cameroon. Since 30 April 2023, the only way to obtain a tourist visa is the official eVisa applied for online at evisacam.cm before travel. There is no visa on arrival for ordinary passports. A France (FR) ordinary passport holder traveling to Cameroon (CM) for tourism must obtain an eVisa in advance. France is not among the seven nationalities exempt from a Cameroon visa (only CAR, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Mali and Nigeria are visa-free). Since the reform that took effect on 30 April 2023, all entry visas must be applied for online through the government Consular Services Portal at evisacam.cm, run by the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX). Cameroon no longer issues general visas on arrival; only diplomatic and service passport holders may obtain a visa on arrival under specific conditions. The applicant registers an account, completes the form, uploads a passport biodata scan and photo, and pays online. Under the normal procedure the eVisa is issued within 72 hours of payment; an express 24-hour option is available at extra cost. Authorities recommend applying at least 10 days before departure. The short-stay eVisa covers stays of up to 180 days; the published fee is around EUR 153 for the 180-day category, with a one-year multiple-entry option around EUR 305. On arrival at Douala or Yaounde airport the online authorization (with QR code) is converted into a physical visa sticker after biometric enrollment. A valid passport with at least six months validity and a yellow fever vaccination certificate are mandatory for all travelers. Cameroon is in Central Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
