Do France passport holders need a visa to visit CH?
French citizens do not need a visa to visit Switzerland. As EU nationals exercising free movement, they enter with a valid passport or national ID card and the 90/180-day Schengen limit does not restrict them. France is a European Union member state and Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area and EFTA, bound to the EU by the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons (AFMP). French citizens therefore enjoy full freedom of movement: they may enter Switzerland for tourism, business, or any short visit with no visa and no prior authorization, presenting either a valid French passport or a valid national identity card. There is no fee and no application. The standard Schengen short-stay rule (90 days within any 180-day period for visa-exempt third-country nationals) does NOT cap EU citizens — French nationals may even remain beyond 90 days, though stays over 90 days require registering for a residence permit with the local commune. The forthcoming ETIAS travel authorization (launching in the last quarter of 2026) applies only to visa-exempt non-EU nationals and explicitly does NOT apply to EU citizens such as the French; likewise the EES entry/exit system does not register EU citizens. In short, a French passport holder needs nothing more than a valid travel document to visit Switzerland.
