French ordinary passport holders need a visa for Burundi. Apply online in advance through the official Commissariat General des Migrations portal (migration.gov.bi) for an entry visa / validation certificate; the visa is collected on arrival at Bujumbura airport for USD 90 and is valid for a 30-day stay. Burundi is in East Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. France is not on Burundi's visa-exemption list (which covers only EAC and CEPGL member states), so French citizens require a visa. Burundi's immigration authority (Commissariat General des Migrations) operates an online portal at migration.gov.bi where travelers complete an entry-visa application before arrival and receive a validation certificate. The visa is then issued/collected at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport in Bujumbura, with a fee of USD 90 (or euro equivalent) payable online or in cash. The short-stay visa is valid for one month (30 days) and can be single or multiple entry. A passport valid at least 6 months with one blank page is required, along with a yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory for Burundi).
