No visa required. As an EU citizen, a French ordinary passport holder can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. A national ID card is also accepted for entry. France is an EU member state, and Bosnia and Herzegovina grants visa-free entry to all EU nationals for short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, transit, business, and visiting. French citizens may enter on a valid ordinary passport or simply a valid national identity card. The passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date. Bosnia and Herzegovina is NOT part of the Schengen Area or the EU, so time spent there does not count against the Schengen 90/180 allowance, and the EU ETIAS system does not apply to this direction of travel. There is no entry fee. One practical obligation specific to Bosnia: every foreigner must register their stay with the local police or the Service for Foreigners' Affairs within 48 hours of arrival (hotels and registered accommodation do this automatically for guests, but those staying in private homes, campsites, or with friends for 3+ days must register themselves). Travelers crossing by land should ensure their passport receives a proper entry stamp, as an unstamped passport can trigger an on-the-spot fine when leaving.
