Do France passport holders need a visa to visit AZ?
French ordinary passport holders need a visa for Azerbaijan, but can obtain it entirely online through the official ASAN Visa (e-Visa) system before travel. No embassy visit or visa-on-arrival is required. Holders of an ordinary France passport are not visa-exempt for Azerbaijan and must obtain a visa in advance. As a citizen of an EU member state, France is on Azerbaijan's e-Visa eligible list, so the standard route is the official ASAN Visa electronic visa applied for online at evisa.gov.az. The e-Visa is a single-entry visa allowing a stay of up to 30 days within a 90-day validity window from the date of issue. Standard processing takes up to 3 working days for a USD 25 state fee (plus a small unavoidable service fee), and an urgent option processes within 3 hours for USD 60. The e-Visa must be printed and presented with the passport at the border. Passport should be valid (Azerbaijani rules require at least 3 months beyond the visa's expiry; some advisories recommend 6 months validity and 2 blank pages). Note: only French diplomatic and service passport holders enjoy visa-free entry; ordinary passport holders do not. Travelers staying longer than 15 days must register with the State Migration Service. There is no visa-on-arrival channel and Azerbaijan is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
