Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit VU?
Finnish (ordinary) passport holders do NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Vanuatu. Finland is on Vanuatu's visa-exempt list, so you receive a free visitor permit stamped on arrival, normally valid for 30 days and extendable up to a total of 120 days at the Immigration Office in Port Vila. As of 31 May 2026, Finland is one of the European Union states whose ordinary-passport holders may enter Vanuatu without a visa. There is no eVisa, no visa-on-arrival fee and no advance application for a short tourist stay: you simply present a valid passport at immigration and an officer stamps a free visitor (tourist) permit, normally for 30 days. The permit can be extended at the Department of Immigration and Passport Services in Port Vila up to a maximum cumulative stay of 120 days. Note that this is the OUTBOUND direction (Finn to Vanuatu) and is unaffected by the EU's December 2024 decision to suspend visa-free travel for Vanuatu citizens going to the Schengen area — that change works only the other way around. Vanuatu is in the South Pacific and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Standard conditions apply: passport valid at least 6 months, a confirmed return/onward ticket, and proof of sufficient funds (about 40,000 VUV per month). The permit does not allow any paid work or commercial activity. Because Vanuatu's official immigration site can be intermittently unreachable, travellers should reconfirm the current list close to departure.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
