Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit Taiwan?

Finnish ordinary passport holders can enter Taiwan visa-free for tourism and short visits of up to 90 days. No visa or pre-arrival authorization is required. Finland is one of the countries whose ordinary passport holders enjoy visa-exempt entry to Taiwan for up to 90 days per visit, confirmed by Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) and the Taipei Representative Office in Finland. The 90-day visa-exempt stay covers tourism, visiting friends or relatives, social events, business meetings, exhibitions, and fact-finding/exchange activities that do not require a separate permit. Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry and present a confirmed onward/return ticket (or onward ticket plus a visa for the next destination). The visa-exempt period is NOT extendable and cannot generally be converted to a visa-based stay except in specific circumstances such as serious illness, natural disaster, force majeure, or obtaining a qualifying work permit. Taiwan is in East Asia and is not part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS are irrelevant to entering Taiwan (ETIAS would apply only when Taiwanese travelers visit Europe, not the reverse). As of 2026-05-30 there is no eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival requirement for eligible Finnish tourists; visa-free entry remains the applicable channel. There is no application fee for visa-exempt entry. Travelers should simply ensure their documents are in order before boarding, as airlines verify passport validity and onward-travel evidence at check-in.
