Finnish ordinary passport holders do NOT need a consular visa for tourism in Suriname. Since 1 July 2022, EU nationals (including Finland) enter visa-free for tourism/family visits, but they MUST buy a mandatory online "Entry Fee" voucher (a single-entry electronic travel authorization) and pay it before departure. Passport valid 6+ months and an onward/return ticket are required. Suriname abolished the visa requirement for nearly all nationalities on 1 July 2022, replacing it with a mandatory pre-paid Entry Fee Voucher purchased online before travel. Finland was not among the countries for which a full visa was reimposed on 1 May 2023, so Finnish ordinary passport holders travel under the Entry Fee regime. This is not a visa and not a visa-on-arrival: it is an electronic travel authorization that must be obtained and paid online (via the official VFS Global e-portal) before boarding, with the PDF voucher presented on arrival together with a passport valid for at least six months and a return/onward ticket. The voucher is single-entry; a multiple-entry option exists for frequent visitors. Suriname is in South America and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Tourists are generally admitted for short stays (commonly up to 90 days per the immigration officer's discretion), though the entry-fee voucher itself is time-limited. Because the authorization must be secured online in advance, the closest single-fit classification is an ETA-style requirement rather than visa-free or visa-required. Travelers should use only the official VFS Global Suriname e-visa portal to avoid overpriced third-party intermediaries.
