No visa. Finland and Latvia are both EU and Schengen members, so a Finnish citizen has the right of free movement and may enter Latvia for tourism with just a valid passport or national ID card. There is no time limit and no ETIAS or ETA requirement. As a Finnish ordinary passport holder, you enjoy full EU freedom of movement when travelling to Latvia. Both countries are members of the European Union and the Schengen Area, so there are typically no routine border checks between Finland and Latvia, and you do not need a visa, ETIAS authorisation, or the Latvian Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA introduced 1 September 2025) — all of those apply only to third-country nationals. You can travel with either a valid Finnish passport or a valid Finnish national identity card; an ID card is sufficient for entry, though a passport is required to use the automated ABC e-gates at Riga Airport. The Schengen 90/180 short-stay rule does not restrict you as an EU citizen — you may stay, work, study, or reside in Latvia for as long as you wish, with a simple registration of residence required only if you stay beyond 3 months. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES), rolling out across Schengen in 2026, also does not apply to EU citizens. Carry travel/health documentation (your European Health Insurance Card) as a sensible precaution, and ensure your ID document is valid for the duration of your visit.
