A standard tourist visa allows a stay of up to 30 days (extendable inside Iran, commonly up to 90 days total) and the visa is generally valid for 3 months from issuance. Finnish citizens are also technically eligible for visa on arrival, but the recommended and most reliable method is securing the eVisa authorization code in advance, because airlines require a visa grant notice for boarding. Direct online MFA applications are free of service charge but can be slow (2-8 weeks) with higher refusal risk; licensed Iranian travel agencies process the authorization in roughly 4-10 working days for a service fee. As of October 2025 Iran reverted to a more flexible regime allowing independent travel, though tourists must stay in registered hotels/guesthouses. Passport must be valid at least six months beyond intended stay. Note: Iran is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 rules and ETIAS are irrelevant here.
