Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit HU?

No. Finnish citizens do not need a visa to visit Hungary. As EU nationals exercising free movement, they can enter and stay in Hungary indefinitely for tourism, and may travel with either a valid Finnish passport or national ID card. Finland and Hungary are both European Union member states and part of the Schengen area (Hungary joined in December 2007). Finnish citizens hold EU citizenship and therefore enjoy the right of free movement under EU law. They may travel to Hungary for tourism, work, study, or residence without any visa, and may enter using either a valid Finnish ordinary passport or a Finnish national identity card. Because both countries are inside the Schengen area, there are normally no systematic checks at the internal border, although Hungary may carry out random identity checks or reintroduce temporary border controls in exceptional circumstances. Crucially, the Schengen 90/180-day short-stay rule applies only to visa-exempt third-country nationals, NOT to EU citizens, so a Finn faces no 90-day limit when visiting Hungary. The forthcoming ETIAS travel authorisation (expected late 2026) likewise does not apply to EU/Schengen nationals. The only practical requirement is to carry a valid travel document during the trip.
