Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit HR?
Finnish passport holders need no visa for Croatia. As EU citizens, Finns enjoy full freedom of movement and can enter and stay in Croatia indefinitely with a valid passport or national ID card. Finland and Croatia are both members of the European Union and the Schengen Area (Croatia joined Schengen on 1 January 2023). A Finnish ordinary passport holder is an EU citizen and benefits from the EU right to free movement. No visa, ETIAS, or other travel authorisation is required to enter Croatia for tourism or any other purpose. A valid Finnish passport or a valid Finnish national identity card is sufficient for entry. Because Finns travel under EU free-movement rules rather than as visa-exempt third-country nationals, the Schengen 90-days-in-180 short-stay limit does NOT apply to them, and the ETIAS travel authorisation (launching for visa-exempt non-EU nationals in late 2026) does NOT apply to EU citizens. A Finnish citizen may stay for tourism without limit; if staying longer than 3 months for work, study, or residence, they simply register their residence with Croatian authorities under EU free-movement procedures. Internal Schengen borders mean there are normally no systematic passport checks between Finland and Croatia, but a valid travel document must always be carried and presented if requested.
