Finnish passport holders need a visa for Djibouti. The simplest route is the official eVisa, obtained online before travel via evisa.gouv.dj. A Finland (FI) ordinary passport holder is NOT visa-exempt for Djibouti and must obtain a visa before arrival. Djibouti operates an official electronic visa system (evisa.gouv.dj) introduced in 2018, which replaced the prior visa-on-arrival scheme for ordinary passport holders. Two tourist-relevant eVisa categories exist: a short-stay visa valid for 15-90 days (government fee USD 23) and a transit visa valid for 1-14 days (government fee USD 12). The eVisa is single-entry and is valid for entry at Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport. Government processing is typically a few business days (often quoted around 72 hours); travelers should apply roughly 1-2 weeks ahead. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of arrival, and applicants must supply a digital photo, proof of accommodation, and onward/return travel arrangements. While Djibouti's regulations technically still mention visa on arrival, the government officially recommends applying for the eVisa in advance, so the eVisa is the reliable and recommended channel. Djibouti is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
