Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit CZ?
No visa. As an EU/EEA and Schengen citizen, a Finnish passport holder enjoys full freedom of movement and can enter Czechia for tourism with just a valid passport or national ID card, with no time limit. Finland and Czechia are both EU member states and both belong to the Schengen Area. Under EU freedom-of-movement law (Directive 2004/38/EC), a Finnish citizen can travel to, stay in, work, and study in Czechia without any visa, and is NOT subject to the Schengen 90/180-day short-stay rule that applies to non-EU visitors. A valid Finnish passport OR national identity card is sufficient as a travel document. Because both countries are inside Schengen, there are usually no systematic checks at the internal border, though carrying a valid travel document remains a legal requirement and spot checks can occur. The forthcoming ETIAS travel authorization (expected to become mandatory around late 2026) applies only to visa-exempt non-EU nationals; EU citizens such as Finns are exempt and never need ETIAS. Stays beyond three months require only a simple registration of residence, not a visa or permit. This is the most secure entry channel possible and there is no conflicting information among official sources.
