Finnish ordinary passport holders need a visa for Burkina Faso. The recommended route is the official eVisa (visaburkina.bf), which allows a short stay of up to 90 days. Finland is not on Burkina Faso's visa-exempt list, so a Finnish (FI) ordinary passport holder traveling for tourism must hold a visa. Since the official electronic visa portal launched on 17 August 2023, the eVisa is the standard and recommended channel: the application, document upload, and fee payment are all completed online at visaburkina.bf, and the approved eVisa is presented on arrival. The short-stay tourist eVisa permits stays of up to 90 days and is available in single- and multiple-entry formats, with government fees set in euros (roughly EUR 89-210 depending on type and entries). Visa-on-arrival, once available to EU nationals, is now issued only in specific exceptional circumstances, so travelers should not rely on it. Burkina Faso is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry.
