Finnish passport holders need a visa for Afghanistan. As of March 2026, the simplest route is the new single-entry tourist eVisa applied for online via the E-Afghans portal, which allows a stay of up to 30 days and is used to enter through Kabul International Airport. Afghanistan is not visa-free for any ordinary passport, including Finland's, and it is not part of the Schengen area, so the 90/180 Schengen rule and ETIAS are irrelevant here. In March 2026 the Afghan authorities launched an online eVisa system (the E-Afghans portal at eafghans.com), which is now the primary channel for tourists. The eVisa is a single-entry tourist visa, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, and must be used within 90 days of issuance. The total cost is roughly USD 128 (an application/processing fee of about USD 8 plus a visa fee of about USD 120). Standard processing runs about 1 to 3 weeks, with same-day express options reported. The eVisa is currently confirmed only for arrivals through Kabul International Airport; land-border and other-airport acceptance is not yet confirmed. Finland is not on any of Afghanistan's ineligible or restricted-nationality lists, so Finnish citizens can apply normally. Note that this is a brand-new, still-evolving system run under the de facto Taliban administration; the Finnish Embassy in Kabul is closed and Finland advises strongly against all travel to Afghanistan, so consular assistance is effectively unavailable on the ground.
