Spanish ordinary passport holders need a visa for Kuwait but do not need to visit a consulate: they can apply for a Kuwait eVisa online before travel, or obtain a visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport (air arrivals only). The eVisa is the recommended route for a smooth, predictable entry. Kuwait is not a Schengen state and is not visa-free for Spain. However, as an EU/Schengen nationality, Spain is on Kuwait's eligible list (53 countries) for both the online eVisa via the Ministry of Interior portal (kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw) and visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport. The eVisa was briefly suspended in December 2024 during a platform upgrade and resumed in January 2025; it is operational as of 2026. The tourist eVisa/VoA costs about KWD 3 (roughly USD 10), is typically single entry, and permits a stay of up to 90 days, with the visa document generally valid for 3 months from issue. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Because visa on arrival is limited to air arrivals and queues/document checks can be unpredictable, the eVisa is recommended for advance certainty; it is normally issued within 2-3 business days but can take up to about 2 weeks if extra checks are needed. Land and sea arrivals must arrange a visa in advance.
