No visa. Spanish nationals are EU citizens and enjoy full freedom of movement in Croatia, which is an EU member and part of the Schengen Area. You can enter with a valid passport or national ID card and stay indefinitely. ETIAS and the 90/180 Schengen limit do not apply to EU citizens. Spain and Croatia are both member states of the European Union, and Croatia has been part of the Schengen Area since 1 January 2023. As an EU citizen, a Spanish ordinary passport holder exercises the right to free movement under EU law (Directive 2004/38/EC) and needs no visa, no ETIAS, and no entry authorization to travel to Croatia for tourism or any other purpose. Travel is permitted on either a valid Spanish passport or a valid Spanish national identity card (DNI). Because internal Schengen border controls between Spain and Croatia have been abolished, there are typically no systematic passport checks, though carrying a valid travel document remains a legal requirement and spot checks can occur. The 90-days-in-180 short-stay rule and the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and ETIAS schemes apply only to non-EU (third-country) nationals; they do not restrict Spanish citizens, who may stay in Croatia without time limit. For stays longer than three months, EU citizens should register their residence with the local Croatian authorities (police administration) but this is a registration formality, not a visa.
