Spanish ordinary passport holders need a visa for Burkina Faso. The recommended option is the official eVisa (short-term tourist visa), applied for online before travel at visaburkina.bf, allowing a stay of up to 90 days. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry. Burkina Faso is not in the Schengen area and does not waive visas for Spanish citizens, so a Spain (ES) ordinary passport holder must hold a valid visa before or upon arrival. Since the launch of the official eVisa portal on 17 August 2023, the e-Visa (short-term/tourist visa) is the standard and recommended channel: applications are completed and paid for online at visaburkina.bf, and the approved visa is delivered by email for printing. The short-term visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days and is offered as single-entry (33,000 F CFA) or multiple-entry (55,000 F CFA). Visa on arrival exists only in exceptional circumstances and should not be relied upon by ordinary tourists. The passport must be valid at least six months with two blank pages, and an International Certificate of Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory. Travelers should also note that Burkina Faso has elevated security risks, and Spain's foreign ministry advises against travel to large parts of the country.
