Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a visa before traveling to Ireland for tourism. Ireland is NOT in the Schengen Area and does not use ETIAS, so a separate Irish short stay 'C' visit visa must be obtained in advance through the AVATS online system and the VFS Global centre in Cairo. Egypt is on Ireland's list of visa-required nationalities, so an ordinary Egyptian passport holder must obtain a short stay 'C' (visit/tourist) visa before traveling. Ireland is part of the Common Travel Area with the UK but is NOT a Schengen state and does NOT participate in ETIAS, so an Irish Schengen visa or ETIAS authorization does not exist for this route; a national Irish visa is required. The process is: complete the online application on the AVATS portal (selecting Short Stay (C)), pay the fee (EUR 60 single entry / EUR 100 multiple entry), then submit the printed summary, passport, and supporting documents to VFS Global in Cairo, paying the local VFS service fee. The 'C' visa permits a stay of up to 90 days. A visa is a pre-clearance to travel only; the immigration officer at the Irish border makes the final decision on admission and length of stay. Processing typically takes around 4 to 8 weeks and can be longer in peak season, so applying well in advance is essential. Note that an Irish visa does NOT permit entry to the UK or the Schengen Area.
