Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen Type C short-stay visa to visit Czechia for tourism. There is no visa-on-arrival or eVisa, and Egypt is NOT on the ETIAS visa-waiver list. You must apply in advance at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo (by appointment) before travel. Czechia (Czech Republic) is a full member of the Schengen Area, so entry rules are governed by common EU/Schengen short-stay policy. Egypt is on Annex I of the EU visa-requirement list, meaning Egyptian nationals must obtain a Schengen Type C (short-stay) visa before traveling for tourism or short visits. Because Egypt is visa-required, Egyptian passport holders are NOT eligible for ETIAS (which is only for visa-exempt nationalities) and will continue to use the standard visa process even after ETIAS launches in late 2026. The visa permits a stay of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications for residents of Egypt are handled by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, strictly by appointment requested via email. First-time applicants must provide biometric fingerprints in person. The standard short-stay visa fee is EUR 90 for adults (EUR 45 for children aged 6-11, free under 6), paid in local currency equivalent, plus any service-center charges. Standard processing is about 15 calendar days, though it can extend to 30-45 days in complex cases, so applying well in advance is strongly recommended. Travelers should also be aware that the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) began operating in April 2026 and biometric data may be collected at the external border.
