Since the launch of the national eVisa portal (visaburkina.bf) on 17 August 2023, the standard and recommended channel is the online eVisa, obtained before departure. Burkina Faso's official immigration service notes that visas are now issued on arrival only in specific exceptional circumstances, so travelers should not count on visa-on-arrival. The short-stay (tourist) visa permits a maximum stay of 90 days. Official government fees are 33,000 CFA francs for single entry and 55,000 CFA francs for multiple entries. Required documents include a passport valid at least six months with two blank pages, proof of accommodation/reason for stay, a photo, health/medical documentation, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow fever is endemic and required for entry). Travelers should apply at least one to two weeks before departure.
