German (ordinary) passport holders need a visa for Zimbabwe but qualify under Category B, so they can pay for and obtain a visa on arrival at any airport or land border. An eVisa is also available and recommended to skip queues. A Germany ordinary passport is NOT visa-free for Zimbabwe, but Germany sits in Zimbabwe's Category B, which means a visa is granted and paid for on arrival at ports of entry such as Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (Harare), Victoria Falls Airport and major land borders. The standard tourist option is a single-entry visa at US$30, valid for one month and allowing a stay typically up to 30 days (extendable in-country, with tourist stays of up to 90 days possible). A double-entry visa (US$45) and the KAZA UniVisa (US$50, valid for Zimbabwe and Zambia within the KAZA region) are also available. As an alternative to paying at the border, travelers may apply online in advance through the official Zimbabwe eVisa portal (evisa.gov.zw); eVisa processing averages about 7 working days. There is no ETA, no ETIAS (Zimbabwe is not in Europe/Schengen) and no advance-approval requirement for German nationals. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months with blank pages. Because the visa is obtainable at the border, the best single classification for a short German tourist stay is visa-on-arrival, with eVisa as the convenient pre-travel route.
