Do Germany passport holders need a visa to visit ZM?
German ordinary passport holders can enter Zambia visa-free for tourism. On arrival you receive a free entry stamp valid for 30 days, extendable twice for 30 days each (up to 90 days within a 12-month period). No visa, eVisa, or fee is required for the standard short stay. Since 1 January 2025, Zambia expanded its visa-waiver program to include Germany among 50+ additional countries (a total of roughly 167 visa-exempt nationalities). The German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) confirms that German nationals may enter Zambia visa-free regardless of purpose of travel. On entry, travelers receive a free passport stamp granting an initial 30-day stay, which can be extended on the ground at an immigration office (free of charge) twice for a further 30 days each, for a maximum cumulative tourist stay of 90 days within any 12-month period. The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date with at least two blank pages. Immigration officers may ask for proof of a return/onward ticket and evidence of sufficient funds. Note that at land borders the visa-free entry stamp may not always be issued reliably; entry via an international airport is recommended. Travelers planning to combine Zambia and Zimbabwe (and a Botswana day trip) may instead opt for the KAZA Univisa (USD 50), but this is optional and not required for a Zambia-only visit. There is no ETIAS/Schengen consideration here as Zambia is an African nation, not part of the Schengen area.
