German (DE) ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourist visits to Vanuatu. You receive a free visitor permit on arrival, normally valid for 30 days and extendable in-country up to a maximum of 120 days. No advance application, no eVisa, and no fee at the border. Vanuatu grants visa-free entry to German citizens (and EU/EEA, UK, US, Australia, NZ, Canada and around 117 other nationalities). On arrival at Bauerfield International Airport (Port Vila) or Pekoa International Airport (Santo), immigration officers stamp a free visitor permit into the passport — typically 30 days for tourism, family visits or business meetings. There is no online application, no arrival fee and no pre-approval. If you need longer, you can extend at the Department of Immigration office in Port Vila before the initial permit expires, up to a combined maximum of 120 days in any 12-month period; the extension carries a fee of around 7,420 VUV. The passport must be valid for at least six months and have a blank page; proof of onward travel and sufficient funds may be requested. Vanuatu is in the South Pacific and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the EU 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route. Work and paid employment are not permitted on a visitor permit.
